EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood has revealed that Stacey Slater will take centre stage in this year's Christmas storyline.Speaking on This Morning earlier today, the soap's boss confirmed that the troubled character will feature in a dramatic plotline as Lacey Turner bows out from the role following a six-year stint.
Speaking of what fans can expect from this year's festive episodes, Kirkwood explained: "Lacey Turner will be leaving us. We're really sad to say goodbye to Lacey. Stacey Slater's had some massive storylines over the last five or six years, so Christmas will be all about her."
Kirkwood went on to describe Stacey's final storyline as "a suitably dramatic and fitting departure for one of the all-time greats".
However, asked whether the character's exit will leave the door open for a return, he replied: "I'm not going to say!"
Turner announced her decision to leave the role of Stacey back in April, explaining that she was keen to pursue other acting projects.
